Hey, everyone! Team Dyskami has returned from a successful Gen Con where our awesome GMs ran 32 role-playing events over four days and met many new-to-us gamers. It was also great meeting a plethora of people at our booth who were excited about this Beyonder Worlds Kickstarter. Pledges from 750+ backers like you have pushed funding more than half way to unlocking the $90K stretch goal that’ll see you rewarded with two free Gen Con 2024 Anime 5E scenarios. Thank you for helping us move towards that target.

We’re coming up on the 48-hour mark tonight before the campaign ends on Thursday, August 8th @ 10 pm EDT, and that’s when Kickstarter sends out reminder notification to potential new backers. We want to ensure Beyonder Worlds has a strong finish, so we are announcing a new stretch goal that unlocks at $100K. And not just one….

$100K Stretch Goal #1: Free Anime 5E Pocket Edition

For this important $100K milestone, we’re going to go in BIG and offer you a $25 product FOR FREE. If campaign funding reaches $100K, every backer who pledges at least $110 (before shipping) will receive a complimentary print copy of the Anime 5E Pocket Edition RPG added to their rewards bundle.

If you don’t know already, the black-and-white Pocket Edition contains all of the Anime 5E full-colour hardcover rules in a compact, softcover version. The Pocket Edition can be used on its own as a core RPG, or it can serve as an extra “table copy” of the rules for handy referencing during gameplay. After all, everyone can use a FREE convenient copy of the Anime 5E rules during play, right? (PS. It makes a great gift, too!)

If you’ve already pledge $85 for the Explorer tier – which comes with the Beyonder Worlds and Monstrum Libri Vol 2 hardcovers – increasing your pledge to the $110 Adventurer tier to qualify for the free Anime 5E Pocket Edition and free Anime 5E Character Folio (already unlocked at $70K) is like getting the $30 Creature Cards Volume 2 FOR FREE!

This stretch goal is a pretty sweet offer, but campaign funding first has to reach $100K in the next two days. Can you help make it happen? And if it does, we have one more surprise waiting for you....

$100K Stretch Goal #2: Pondering the 2024 D&D Player’s Handbook

Mark stood in line (both digitally and physically) at Gen Con for a couple of hours to secure two exclusive advanced sneak peek copies of the revised and updated 2024 D&D Player’s Handbook (Wizards only made 3,000 available for sale at the show before the worldwide mid-September release). One copy is needed in our office for research and game design purposes, but the second copy – well, we’re pondering what to do with it.

The Kickstarter website clearly indicates that “Stretch goals are not part of the official Kickstarter platform”, yet they also clearly prohibit “contests, coupons, gambling, and raffles”. Consequently, we can’t just announce that one lucky Adventurer Tier backer will receive a bonus PHB surprise from us because we are committed to following all the Kickstarter rules, as always.

So to summarise for our pondering:

• Dyskami has an extra copy of the 2024 D&D Player’s Handbook we’d like to give away
• We are already rewarding backers at the $110 Adventurer tier with free stuff if funding reaches $100K
• Stretch goals are not officially part of Kickstarter
• Kickstarter prohibits raffles
• Dyskami follows Kickstarter rules

So we will reward all backers pledging $110+ with a free copy of the Anime 5E Pocket Edition should funding reach $100K, and ponder how to approach the above five bullet points.

Spell Conversion Plus $90K Stretch Goal and Gen Con

It’s Saturday, and Dyskami is checking in with you from Gen Con in Indianapolis – America’s largest game convention with over 70,000 attendees. Thanks to your pledges over the past few days, you have pushed campaign funding through $80K and unlocked the next Beyonder Worlds stretch goal. Everyone backing at the $23 Previewer tier and above will now receive a free PDF of 10 diverse magic spells from the Fifth Edition PHB using Anime 5E’s Point-based Attribute system. $90K Stretch Goal: Two Free Gen Con Scenarios

Here at Gen Con, we have a roster of seven Game Masters running Anime 5E and BESM games for us. The feedback on the sessions has been fantastic, and we’re thrilled that so many gamers are getting to experience some wonderful mini-adventures.

For the next stretch goal, we thought “why not release these short Gen Con adventures after the convention, too?” If funding reaches $90K, backers at the $23+ Previewer tier and above will receive free PDF copies of the two Anime 5E Gen Con scenarios – For They Are Bound By Blood (Level 3) and Fey Tower of Chaos (Level 6) – along with pre-generated character sheets. This stretch goal adds $8 in value to your pledge!

Bonus Beyonder Worlds Monsters Plus $80K Stretch Goal and Artist Spotlight

Happy Monday, backers! You collectively made some sweet progress on the Anime 5E Beyonder Worlds campaign over the weekend and today pushed funding through the $70K threshold. We are thrilled that everyone backing at the $23 Previewer tier and above will now receive a free PDF download of five new Beyonder Worlds monsters/threats. Thank you kindly for your contribution to this.

$80K Stretch Goal: 10 PHB Spell Conversions

For the next stretch goal, we’re going to lean into bonus content digital rewards. If funding reaches $80K, designer Mark MacKinnon will rebuild 10 diverse magic spells from the Fifth Edition PHB using Anime 5E’s Point-based Attribute system. Though characters can easily gain access to 5E spells as they are written using the Spell-Like Ability Attribute (A5E page 117), spell effects can also be created natively using Attributes with appropriate Enhancements and Limiters, as Mark will demonstrate through these examples. These 10 spell rebuilds – usable with Beyonder Worlds or in traditional anime fantasy adventures – will be made available as a free PDF download for all backers at the $23+ Previewer tier and above.

Artist Spotlight: Candice Sciortino

We are thrilled to continue our ongoing relationship with artist Candice in Anime 5E Beyonder Worlds and Monstrum Libri/Creature Cards Volume 2. You will certainly recognise her distinctive work from previous Anime 5E expansions last year (Folstavia: The Infinite Crossroads and Monstrum Libri Volume 1). Candice excels at illustrating anime-style monsters and characters, which are crisp, evocative, and imaginative. Mark took plenty of inspiration from her designs when creating the monster roster for the Volume 2 creature collections. Below offers a closer look a few art pieces from Beyonder Worlds and Monstrum Libri/Creature Cards Volume 2. You’ll be seeing more of her work in Dyskami titles in the future as well.

Free Anime 5E Folio, $70K Stretch Goal, Plus New Classes

Thank you all for pushing funding for the Beyonder Worlds campaign through the $60K mark with still two more weeks to go! The $60K stretch goal is now unlocked, which means everyone backing the campaign with a pledge of $110+ will receive a free Anime 5E Character Folio with their rewards – a $10 value for you, delivered with our gratitude.

$70K Stretch Goal: Beyonder Worlds Threats

We’re switching back to a digital reward for the next stretch goal. If funding reaches $70K, Beyonder Worlds author Robin Flanagan will create five additional monsters/threats you can drop into your adventures – one for each of the five genre settings in Beyonder Worlds. These creatures will be made available as a free PDF download for all backers at the $23+ Previewer tier and above.

Beyonder Worlds Classes 

In addition to each genre setting featuring its own Class archetype, Beyonder Worlds presents five new Classes that are appropriate for most anime fantasy settings, including Anime 5E’s Folstavia campaign world. While some are more closely associated with science fiction elements, all have their place in settings that include genre elements of adventure and personal advancement. Here’s a few quick highlights of these Classes:

Biomancer

A master of organic form who is capable of transforming, healing, and resisting others.

• Preferred Species: Asrai, Blinkbeast, Lephorid, Parasite, Slime, Starwisp
• Example Attributes: Alternate Form, Healing, Metamorphosis, Summon Animals

Esper

A prodigy of psychic ability who possesses both depth and breadth of mental powers.

• Preferred Species: Astran, Demonaga, Grey, Gnome, Half-Troll, Slime
• Example Attributes: Dynamic Powers – Lesser (Perception), Mind Shield, Telepathy, Telekinesis

Explorer

A pioneer who thrives on uncovering lost treasures and discovering hidden societies.

• Preferred Species: Celestine, Fairy, Grey, Haud, Lephorid, Nekojin
• Example Attributes: Edge, Features, Forced Disadvantage, Unaffected

Mecha Knight

An adventurer who masters their powerful mecha, battling armies and titanic monsters.

• Preferred Species: Dwarf, Grey, Haud, Nekojin, Orc, Technoid
• Example Attributes: Item, Massive Damage, Skill Proficiency

Void Champion

A defender of freedom and honour who wields a diverse set of psychokinetic energies.

• Example Attributes: Combat Technique, Extra Actions, Force Shield, Inspire

New Beyonder Worlds Skill Proficiencies Plus Community Spotlight

Happy Tuesday, backers! It’s only been a week since the campaign began, but you and 500+ other backers have pushed campaign funding more than two-thirds of the way towards unlocking the $60K stretch goal! It’s shaping up to be a great week, and we’re excited to see where the campaign will go.

We have two things to mention in today’s update: new Beyonder World Skill proficiencies and a spotlight on another Kickstarter.

Expanded Skill Proficiencies

Expanding genres beyond traditional fantasy adventures with Anime 5E Beyonder Worlds means seven new Skill proficiencies are available to characters when appropriate. For obvious reasons, many of them are not as relevant in a fantasy setting like Folstavia: The Infinite Crossroads, though some of them could still be applicable in suitable scenarios if desired.

• Biological Sciences – This diverse field covers scientific knowledge of how living things survive, thrive, and function.
• Computers – Practical and theoretical knowledge of computer systems and their general use. Computer engineering is covered by Electronics.
• Demolitions – The ability to set explosive charges without getting hurt or inflicting undesired collateral damage in the process. It is also used for deactivating explosives set by someone else.
• Electronics – The ability to maintain, repair, build, modify, and design electronic equipment.
• Environmental Sciences – These diverse scientific fields focus on the environment, with particular regard to the historical and current activities of sentient beings and their important impact on both biodiversity and sustainability.
• Police Sciences – This is the science and methodology behind detective work, including ballistics, criminology, forensics, and more.
• Urban Tracking – Urban Tracking is the ability to shadow someone through an industrialised, populated area. It also assists with finding certain people in a particular sub-culture or environment by asking the right questions.
