What are your plans for Anime 5E virtual tabletops (VTTs)?
This has been a long journey rife with multiple starts and stops for various reasons. We are aware of a few people working on Roll20 and Foundry implementations, but we don’t know when they may launch. Anime 5E support is currently offered through VTT newcomer SceneGrinder. Of course, since Anime 5E is built on the Fifth Edition framework, you can use a standard D&D character sheet on most VTTs and simply enter the Anime 5E details that’s unique to the game (and dice rolling is easily implemented as well). The mapping and token representation on Roll20 or any VTT can be used with Anime 5E as well while you wait for native support on your platform of choice.

If this is an OGL product, do I need to the PHB/DMG/MM to play?
Not at all. Anime 5E is a complete self-contained game (plus optional expansion) that does not require any other game books to play. Of course, we know that many people interested in Anime 5E are already familiar with traditional Fifth Edition offerings – it is the “world’s most popular role-playing game” after all! The countless Fifth Edition books from WotC and numerous third-party publishers can integrate with Anime 5E and provide a wealth of expanded gaming options to accompany the original Anime 5E expansions and accessories.

What about D&D's 2024 update? Is Anime 5E compatible?
Since the core framework of Anime 5E is based on the structure of Fifth Edition but does not rely on specific implementations of the details in D&D, the game is fully compatible with both the 2014 and 2024 Fifth Edition variants. Anime 5E is a stand alone game that you can integrate with other Fifth Edition products as you desire.

How is Anime 5E an anime game? Can't any game be an anime game?
That’s a great question, and one that has always been the top priority in our conceptualisation of anime role-playing games. Since RPGs are primarily collective exercises of the mind, players can of course use any game system to create their own versions of anime adventures. Although Anime 5E can be integrated with any standard high-fantasy Fifth Edition gaming campaign, the species, classes, options, and new rules present a game that evokes the best in fantasy anime and manga series. The artwork sets a strong visual tone, naturally, and Anime 5E features some spectacular pieces by extremely talented illustrators. Also, some story and character elements that are common in anime and manga – but are not as common in Tolkien-esque high-fantasy settings – provide additional flavour, such as pet monster duels, characters that attract a swarm of admirers, incredible gravity-defying leaps, thunderous bare-knuckle punches, and more. Finally, Anime 5E provides excellent guidance for playing and running campaigns to help you create an evocative anime-style flavour in your adventures. We continue this design principle with Beyonder Worlds – it’s not just any sci-fi/mecha/cyberpunk/urban, but rather it invokes the anime feeling of those genres.

Did you make a spelling mistake?
It’s certainly possible. We try our best, but sometimes fingers have a mind of their own. Drop us a message if you see one; we appreciate the opportunity to correct our mistakes. Of course, it might be that you’re noticing our British spellings (we are a Canadian company) and thinking they are actually typos instead of spelling variations. We get that a lot, too.

What about translations into other languages like French, Italian, Portuguese, etc.?
We have ongoing partnerships (and are establishing new ones) that will allow us to have our RPG and expansions translated into different languages, though each publisher will decide for themselves which products to translate. We don’t have any firm commitments at this time to translate these three new products, of course, but we think Anime 5E Beyonder Worlds is a good candidate for future translation.

How will the reward deliveries roll out?
DIGITAL: The products are pretty much ready to go shortly after the campaign ends, which will set the digital release dates to September 2024 (or perhaps in late August). At this point, all backers who have completed their survey and remitted final payment (if modified in the BackerKit pledge manager after the Kickstarter ends) will be sent an email with DriveThruRPG download codes for their digital rewards. People who do not complete the survey on time will be processed in waves on a regular basis – perhaps every week. We will then send out download PDF codes in these waves to backers, not daily as they come in. In other words, if you want your pledge rewards as soon as possible, please don’t delay completing the survey.
PHYSICAL: At any point between when the BackerKit opens and we close the BackerKit in late Fall 2024, backers can complete the survey and input their shipping addresses and pledge details. Once we close the BackerKit, backers must email us directly to make any further changes to addresses or reward selection. If things proceed as expected, we will ship pledges to backers worldwide by December 2024.

What is BackerKit?
BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!
The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.
How does BackerKit work?
After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.
I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?
The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.
Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.
To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.
How do I update my shipping address?
BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.
When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?
That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.
I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?
As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
